Ain't It Cool News is reporting that Karl Urban (Lord of the Rings, The Bourne Supremacy) has been cast as Dr. McCoy in J.J. Abrams upcoming reboot of Star Trek.
If Billy Bob Thornton were a score years younger, I would have loved to have seen him in this, but I dig this choice. Urban was unrecognizable in Bourne Supremacy, and I like the prospect of a kiwi playing a old Tennessee boy like McCoy.
(Side note: If any Trek historians know that McCoy isn't from Tennessee, don't flame me. Let me enjoy my dreams.)
