I guess the Associated Press doesn't employ any movie geeks.
Variety ran an AP wire story today about how George Lucas has "just started" working on a new TV series based in the Star Wars universe.
"The Skywalkers aren't in it," Lucas said. "And it's about minor characters."
Lucas added that the series would be about "the life of robots."
First of all, haven't we been hearing about this new series for months? And hadn't Lucas been planning to do two series at one point? What gives?
But as for the "about the life of robots" quip: Oh, of course it will. Of course it will be about the lives of a bunch of characters that end themselves to CG rendering and will fit nicely into action-figure packaging.
But who knows? Maybe this series will rock. Maybe this series will rock as much as this rocked:
