Bat-shit insane chess prodigy Bobby Fischer will have his life adapted into a feature film entitled Bobby Fischer Goes to War. Kevin Macdonald, director of the Oscar-winning documentary One Day in September, The Last King of Scotland, and State of Play, will direct the film.

It will reportedly focus on Fischer’s defeat of Boris Spassky in the World Chess Championship in 1972 in Reykjavik, Iceland, an event that made Fischer the only American to achieve the title of “world’s best chess player”.

While perhaps not very respectful, considering he passed away earlier this month, Fischer earned the label of “bat-shit insane” as he became known more for his outspoken comments, anti-Semitic rants, which included stating things like the Holocaust never happened, and an eccentric and reclusive nature, rather than his chess playing ability.
