Bruce Willis Steps in as a Surrogate

Bruce Willis has signed on to star in The Surrogates, a sci-fi thriller for Disney. Jonathon Mostow (Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines) will direct the adaptation of a title from Top Shelf Comix.

The story centers on Bruce Willis as a cop in the near future. People live in isolation and interact socially vicariously via robots that are better looking than there human counterparts. Willis (and his surrogate) investigate the "murders" of other surrogates. I say "murders" because we’re talking about robots here.

Two questions: Why does the "death" of a robot need to be investigated? Why not just build another one? Also, is anyone going to buy that someone like Bruce Willis needs a better looking surrogate?
