CC2K Comics Weekly Pull List For Dec 23, 2009

Written by: Gary M. Kenny, CC2K Comics Editor

ImageEach week we build up our comic book pile. Some of us save our favorite titles for last while the others cannot wait to get their fix. Let CC2K pick the top 5 comics you need to read this week.

Image5. Fall of the Hulks:Gamma

Need I say anymore then this: John Romita JR. That should be enough of a reason to pick up this book. However, i'll describe the story written by Loeb, who many have been criticizing as ruining the Hulk comics. Marvel’s finest mourn the death of General Ross, who has been murdered by the Red Hulk. We learn a giant array of the (green) Hulk's rogues are planning an assault on the Red Hulk and that very soon every monster and power house will be involved in a new World War Hulk. Fun little ending with Red Hulk and Bruce Banner teaming up.

Image4. Captain America: Who Will Wield the Shield?

Steve Rogers is back and now there are two Captain Americas. The burning question is: Who will wear the blue mask with the giant "A" in the center? The answer seems to be a foregone conclusion — but maybe not the way you’re expecting. Brubaker is one the best writers Marvel has and this comic should be in everyone's pile this week. By the way this issue contains a great discussion with Bucky and Black Widow.

Image3.Detective Comics # 860

Batwoman's origin story concludes here! In "Go!" part 3, Kate Kane becomes Batwoman and goes after a terrorist cell in Gotham and there lies the fun. Plus, in the present, Kate confronts her father about her supposedly dead sister. Rucka writes a great story but it's Williams's art that makes this comic worth more then a $3.99 cover price. Once this arc is over with, these past few issues will make for one really beautiful trade.

Image2.Willow: One Shot

Joss Whedon wrote this 40 page comic. Again, Joss Whedon wrote this 40 page comic. It's not his best work, however, i'm not complaining. We want more Whedon and Dark Horse delivers. Oh, did i mention Joss Whedon wrote this 40 page comic?

Image1.Thor #605

Loki's tricks have created one deadly situation for the Asgardians to obtain their Latverian citizenship, just kidding, but Loki is up to no good and after the devastating events of THOR: DEFINING MOMENTS GIANT-SIZE and THOR 604, everything comes to a head! The volatile balance of power in Latveria is tipped, and all sides march toward all-out war! It's Thor vs. Doom. Doom is pissed how the mighty Asgardian's have been looking down on him. Nobody puts baby in the corner! Thor gets his ass handed to him and thanks to Billy Tan's fantastic art, it's an epic ass kicking. PICK OF THE WEEK!
