Considering what a huge success Cloverfield has been, it should come as no surprise that Paramount is chomping at the bit to bring the big beastie back in a sequel.

Cloverfield director Matt Reeves, producer J.J. Abrams, and writer Drew Goddard are in talks to come up with additional footage for a sequel, though there’s no word on if the vomit-inducing hand-held-camera style will make a return.

It might not be much of a limb to go out on, but my guess is they’ll do it, to keep with the authenticity they established in the first film. And it would at least be a plausible way to segue into a sequel, since the military/authorities could always discover another camcorder with a record of additional mayhem and destruction.

Plus, they never killed the monster at the end of Cloverfield, did they? (I honestly don’t know, I still haven’t seen it.)
