With most of the major characters cast, attention has turned to the casting of other characters in JJ Abrams upcoming Star Trek reboot. First up is Jennifer Morrison (House, Flourish), who has been confirmed to be playing a supporting role. What is not confirmed at this point is who she will be portraying, though the guys at IESB are speculating that she will play a younger Carol Marcus, who had a prominent role in Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan as the inventor of Genesis (and one of Kirk’s old flames). They are reporting that the character is indeed included in the film’s script.
It’s also being reported that Chris Hemsworth (the most recognizable of his credits being Dancing with the Stars) has been cast as George Samuel Kirk Sr. If it’s not obvious this is James T. Kirk’s father. Considering Chris Pine (cast as James T.) was born in 1980, and Chris Hemsworth (George Samuel) was born in 1983, that would mean that Kirk’s father is 3 years younger than him.
I have no idea how Abrams is going to make this work. I would suggest not thinking about it too long, as your head might explode.
