Mulder and Scully Have Company: Casting News for X-Files 2

We’ve finally got word of some additional players beyond Duchovny and Anderson in X-Files 2.

The report out today confirms that Xhibit (8 Mile, Pimp my Ride), Amanda Peet (The Whole Nine Yards, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip), and Billy Connoly (Mrs. Brown, The Last Samurai) have all signed on to star in Chris Carter’s anticipated sequel.

Details are scarce at this point, but what we have can be found after the jump! HR indicates that Xhibit and Peet will be starring as fellow FBI agents to Mulder and Scully.  No word yet on what role Connoly might be playing.

They are also reporting that while plot details are being closely guarded, the sequel will be a stand-alone story, and not a direct continuation of the story line in the first X-Files film.
