Obama/Spidey Team Up Sells Out. Already.

ImageThe people that think comic books are instantly valuable have struck again! The elite club of people that were first in line for such landmark issues as Superman #75 (Death of Superman) and Captain America #25 (Death of Captain America) have struck again with the debut of Amazing Spider-Man #583, hitting shelves today, and featuring a variant cover with President-elect Obama on the cover. Apparently, reports are coming in of lines wrapped around blocks, as well as nearly instant sell outs.

What we have here is another example of people trying to capitalize on the notion that comics are for collecting, and instantly valuable. I can't help but wonder how many of those issues will actually be cracked open and read, as opposed to sent to the CGC for grading, or thrown up on eBay. Let alone drawing in these pyramid scheming consumers to the overall storyline, or world of comics in general.

Any of you suckers that buy this issue for hundreds of dollars, feel free to drop me a line in a year and let me know if you've had any success reselling it for the same price.
