Patrick Swayze has as little as five weeks to live, reports the National Enquirer. Although not known as the most reputable of sources for real news, it seems this is a legitimate story.

Apparently Swayze was diagnosed in January with pancreatic cancer that had metastasized to other organs. Even though Swayze has been undergoing aggressive chemotherapy treatment at the Stanford University cancer center, his doctors are no longer optimistic that the treatments will result in a successful cure.

An unidentified source said,

He was told he could have two more treatments, but his cancer was not responding. In short – they held out little hope for a cure.

Swayze seemed to reach the height of his popularity in the 80’s and early 90’s, moving from early films such as The Outsiders and Red Dawn to bigger roles in Dirty Dancing, Road House, Ghost, and Point Break

Swayze is 55 years old.

Pancreatic cancer is a malignant tumor of the pancreas, and often due to the difficulty of diagnosis, most patient prognosis is poor. About 33,000 people are diagnosed each year in the United States, with a very low survival rate.
