Take Away the Controller: Video Game Television Series

Written by: Adam "ManKorn" Korenman, CC2K Video Games Editor

Games are my second-favorite part of a balanced television diet.

While I am more than happy to spend a day curb-stomping zombies in Dying Light or race through the city in GTA V, I still enjoy binge-watching my favorite shows even more. How has it taken television producers so long to try and tie these two things together? And no, before you ask, I do not consider the cartoon versions of video games to be the same as a dedicated serial. Sonic and Mario had some good times, but they can’t hold a candle to Breaking Bad

That’s why I am very interested that Netflix might be developing a Zelda series. Set aside the fact that Zelda may be one of the best franchises in video game history, it would be coming out at the perfect time. Game of Thrones has proven that medieval fantasy stories can THRIVE on the small screen, and there is a massive built-in fanbase for the franchise.

All this excitement got me to thinking: What other video games would make amazing TV series? So here are some of my picks for titles that need to lose the controller and take over the networks.
