ImageThe teaser for Xavier Gens' claustrophobic new thriller The Divide has just dropped online – and it looks great.

The movie follows an eclectic half-dozen survivors of some kind of apocalypse as they hole up in the bomb shelter of a kooky survivalist who makes Colonel Kurtz look like Captain Fucking Kangaroo.

For those of you who haven’t been following this project, it comes from a script that popped up on 2007’s famed Black List – the super-secret list of Hollywood’s best unproduced screenplays.

I actually got to read this one, and it’s a doozy. The writer is a first-timer named Karl Mueller, and even though I prefer his original title – Shelter – it looks Gens brought his A-game to this one, and I for one am pumped to see The Terminator’s Michael Biehn as the kooky survivalist. I hope he channels only the most deranged side of Lt. Reese.

The cast also includes Hostel 2’s Lauren Germain in the female lead, which if memory serves, is the script’s full-on hero. Kudos to Mueller for making a woman the hero of a testosterone-fueled post-apocalyptic romp. The rest of the cast includes Courtney B. Vance, Milo Ventimiglia, Michael Ecklund and Rosanna Arquette.

The teaser’s only going to be up for 24 hours, so check it out now!
