The Morning Roundup: New Spirit, T-Rex Posters, New Trailers for Disney’s The Princess, Pixar’s Up

ImageThis morning we’ve got news regarding the theme song for Quantum of Solace, new trailers for The Princess and The Frog and Up, as well as new posters for The Spirit and Tyrannosaurus Rex, and more!

The trades are reporting that Guillermo Del Toro is attached to produce a remake of Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, a television movie made for ABC in 1973.  Evidently he will also be adapting it with his Mimic writing partner Matthew Robbins.  How the fuck Del Toro has the time to do this is a mystery.

Keanu Reeves is indeed attached as the lead Spike in the Cowboy Bebop live-action movie. This film, the latest in a string of live-action adaptations of anime classics, is on a fast track for 2010 and will have an "insane" budget.

You have got to be kidding me.  The trades are also reporting that plans are underway to make a Marvin the Martian feature film that will be a blend of live-action and CGI.  Evidently the story will have “a Christmas theme with Marvin coming to Earth to destroy Christmas but being prevented from doing so when he's trapped in a gift box.”  WTF?

David Gordan Green (Snow Angels, Pineapple Express) has confirmed to that among other things, he is planning a remake of the 1982 comedy Six Pack, about a Nascar driver that gets a bunch of kids for a pit crew.  Hilarity ensues.

It seems that every new Bond film needs a theme song to run during the opening credits.  Quantum of Solace will be no different, but it will be the first to have the theme be performed as a duet, with Jack White and Alicia Keyes set to collaborate on a song entitled "Another Way to Die."

We’ve got the new trailer for Pixar’s Up:

This must be a day for animated trailers, because we’ve also got the trailer for Disney’s return to 2-D animation, The Princess and The Frog:

Here's another, and pretty awesome IMHO, poster for The Spirit

And here's a new poster for Rob Zombie's Tyrannosaurus Rex:
