Thor: The Dark World: Gets Second Villain

Written by: Gary M. Kenny, CC2K Comics Editor

Thor 2 aka Thor : The Dark World is getting a second villain. Once the title of the film was released, it became clear that the main antagonist would be  MaleKith, the dark elf. Now Marvel has leaked that actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje is playing the role of the most powerful dark elf: Algrim the strong, who later gets remade into a character named Kurse.

Svatalfheim is one of the nine words of Asgard where Malekith the accused rules. At one point, Malekith was friends with Thor’s family, but as one learns more about the world of Thor, he gets betrayed a lot. Malekith will be played by ex Doctor Who actor Christopher Eccleston. Malekith persuades Algrim the strong to fight Thor. After he gets destroyed by Thor, he is rebuilt into a being twice his size named Kurse.

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje is best known for his work on Lost playing Mr. Eko and Simon Adebisi on HBO’s Oz.  He is a British actor and former fashion model. Adewale tends to play very passionate yet dark villains. His work somehow leaves a lasting impression on the viewer. His presence in Thor 2 spkes my interest level. To land such an array of actors this film must have a very strong script. Adewale alone playing one of Thor’s strongest foes is a fanboy dream. His gruff charm will probably make the film.

Thor: The Dark World is currently filming now and will have a released date of November 8th, 2013.
