Top 5 Badasses in Video Games

Admit it. You love playing the bad guy. Grand Theft Auto V doesn’t make a billion dollars in a weekend without at least a few people showing some interest in exploring a virtual life of crime. Video games represent the most pervasive and immersive storytelling medium in history, outgrowing film and TV consistently over the last few years. Suffice to say, it’s a notably tapped market.

So what is it about dancing on the wrong side of the law that we find so damn entertaining? I think it has something to do with the idea of the gunslinger. The cowboy. The ronin. We like our heroes to be unshakable, unkillable, and unrelenting in the face of overwhelming odds. To put it bluntly, we want to play as Rambo.

There are dozens of characters who did not make this list, simply because I felt their actions were dictated by a military counterpart or the fact that they are a robot. You might disagree, and I welcome the commentary.
