The Morning Roundup: SAG Strike, Batman, Watchmen, Spider-Man

Written by: Phoebe Raven, CC2K Staff Writer

This morning we scrape together non-Golden Globes news about the SAG strike, Batman 3, Watchmen and Spider-Man 4 plus some trailers.

ImageThe news of the weekend obviously were the Golden Globes, but we already caught you up on them in a separate news installment, so let us focus on business as usual on a Tuesday morning.

At the Box Office new movies finally brought a change: Clint Eastwood's last acting endeavor Gran Torino was the No. 1 movie. Read Big Ross' review here. Kate Hudson's and Anne Hathaway's Bride Wars came in second. And Rogue Pictures horror flick The Unborn rounds up the top three.

While half the industry was celebrating themselves in Beverly Hills, the other half is debating the future: the SAG emergency meeting we reported about last week is in progress today and tomorrow. It will be determined whether or not to send out ballots to vote on an actors' strike. It will also be debated whether to replace the negotiating committee and to relieve exec director Doug Allen of his duties. Let's see what happens.

But let us not dismiss the Globes completely just yet, because the Red Carpet is a perfect opportunity for actors to spill some secrets. And Aaron Eckhart hinted at the possibility of Harvey Dent returning in the third Batman installment. He said:
"“I think Harvey — if he’s not dead — is in a serious coma and I’m not sure he’s coming out. They might pull the plug on him.” You can watch the whole thing on video over at MTV.

In other good news about a future blockbuster, WB and FOX have entered settlement talks over the Watchmen film and they have been "productive" so far. A hearing in front of the judge was postponed so the talks could continue. We are holding our breath.

And since we're on the topic of superheroes: Sam Raimi has revealed that he want Morbius to be the villain in Spider-Man 4.

That's all the not-directly Globe-related news we have this morning. So let's watch some trailers.
